Last Night Together

I made some really great friends while abroad and as our time was coming to a close it was tough to say goodbye. My friend Allie and her Scottish bf Michael decided to leave the weekend before school was over to go to the Highlands and then they were going to be in Edinburgh, where Michael’s family lives for the rest of the week.
So it was our last day to hang out with Allie and Michael. We decided to have one last night out on the town. And as you guessed it, we were doing a pub crawl! Lol. Those have become the group favorite, because everyone likes different pubs/bars so we get to go to all of them!

I wasn't just the 6 of us going on this pub crawl, we had a couple of other friends that were going with us as well.  We all met up at my friend Nora’s flat to pregame for our pub crawl because some of the pubs can be really expensive. We played games like King's Cup and Ride the Bus.

Scotland is so far North that the sun doesn't set til 10-11 in the summer time. So we ended up being at Nora's until 10-11 when we meant to leave at 8. You just don't realize how fast the time is going when the sun is still up.
After being at Nora’s flat for a while we went out into Stirling. We started at Morrison’s but everyone in town was out celebrating the end of school, and there was Soccer Final’s on there as well, so we didn’t stay long. Morrison's is the most expensive anyways.
After Morrison’s we hopped across the street to a group favorite, Katie’s! The first time we went there was for George’s Birthday. We didn’t know it was a gay bar, but we found out later. While we were there for my birthday pub crawl, a man took off his pants…lol. I don't remember how it happened, but I looked over and there was a man with no pants on standing at the bar. I think they wouldn't serve him anymore, so of course the logical thing would be to embarrass yourself more and take off your pants.
We got to Katie’s and it was packed, but we squeezed downstairs where the pool table is and we found a table.
At Katie’s they do a special where if you get your hand marked outside you get a free bomb with any drink you buy.

As per usual Katie’s is a good time. There are LOTS of interesting people to watch….and it’s always funny to see people get hit on. Lol. While at Katie's that time, we ran into Billy.

Billy is the same man from George's Birthday who said he was 105 years old, then jumped on a table and sang happy birthday to George. So we ran into Billy at Katie's, and he even remembered George. haha

After Katie’s we moved on to Corn Exchange. Corn Exchange is more of a young club dance bar place. They usually are playing good music WAY too loud, and they have about 2 bartenders for the whole bar. It's fun until your eardrums start to bleed. lol.

After corn exchange it was decided to go grab chips. There are a couple chippies between the pubs and the bus station/taxi stop so we all stopped at “Il Viccolo” the group favorite for chips, cheese and garlic! IT IS AMAZING! Literally the best chippy ever!! Lol. I know you’re thinking, just because we were doing a pub crawl that the chippy is that good. But I’ve been there in the daytime and it’s still mind blowingly amazing!!! Lol.

We were all outside the chippy eating our chips, when one of George's friends who was insanely belligerent saw George. He was really excited to see George and then was pretty much a mess. He kept trying to pick up George and then would put him back down. He picked up another one of his friends and lost his balance and slammed his friend into the ground. It wasn't on purpose, but it was ridiculous. No one got hurt, but good lord.

The bars in Stirling close at 1 and so we went back to campus. With the night still young we opted to hang out at Kaylin's flat for a while, talking about the semester and whatnot.

The next morning, we got up early to say goodbye to Allie and Michael. It was sad to see them go, but we had good times.

Until Next time......

Pole Fitness Class

I didn't know that in order to take this class you have to be scantily clad, but I guess it comes with the territory. Amanda and I showed up in our capris and t-shirts looking like Taliban women.  It was funny because we got paired with a girl who was letting it all hang out.

First of all, this class is taught in "Glow" which is the Stirling University on campus "nightclub". When I say "nightclub" this is the kind of place where all the freshmen go the first week of the semester before they figure out no one else goes there, and it's creepy and weird.
I was surprised to show up early and see two girls assembling poles. I don't know what I expected, but I thought they'd be magically there all the time and permanent. Not so much the case. There were two girls assembling poles, wedging them between the roof and floor. All I was thinking is, hope they know what they're doing, or I may crack my skull open. Before this class I told Brandon it would be a success if I didn't break my head open or break any equipment.

I thought that since this was a pretty big class there would be a big space with enough poles for everyone to have their own pole, also not the case. Amanda and I were paired with one other girl named Rachael. She had been to the class one time before and thought she was the SH*T. The teacher came to our pole first because she knew that we had no idea what we were doing. She showed a basic drop move, where the muscle control is really important otherwise you slam your knees into the floor. I only had to make that mistake once.
We then learned a windmill fan kicky thing. You have to hold on and lift your body off the ground while fan kicking simultaneously. This one rocks your abs and arms hardcore!! It was my favorite because it didn't involve too much spinning.

It's surprising strippers don't vomit on stage, some of the things they do are insane. Next we learned a move called the "Dizzy Maker". I liked this move except the fact that we had to do it over and over again. Talk about a DIZZY MAKER! You spin backwards, of all directions with one knee hooked around the pole.
Then for the grand finale, our teacher showed us how to climb the pole. I now understand why girls wore short shorts to this class. In order to properly climb a pole you have to pull yourself up as high and you can, then you have to grip with the skin on your thighs. As both Amanda and I wore long capris, climbing was not all to easy, and I gave up.

Rachael however wore the SHORTEST shorts, and didn't wear appropriate undergarments to climb a pole.

Want to know how I know? Well you see, Racheal's already short shorts got pulled up even higher.

Revealing nasty von grossinstien's kootchy touching the pole!!!!!!!!

GAHH!!!!!! It was soooo gross!
When I noticed, my head shot around to Amanda and tried to have a eye-conversation. It was literally the most awkward moment of my life.

After Rachael was done climbing up the pole, I sanitized it with the sanitizing rags and pretended it never happend.

We went through the rest of the class without a kootchy sighting, thank god!

We had a good time, and I look back on that and laugh my face off.

Just know, if you ever decide to take a pole fitness class, please wear underwear, lots of it.

Until Next Time.......

I'm 21!!

George’s Birthday was on the 8th, and mine was only 5 short days later! Brandon came into town on my birthday because his program in Italy was over!!!  It was my birthday, but also finals were starting. We had all decided we wanted to go out for my birthday, but Allie had a final the day after my birthday. We decided not to do anything on my actual birthday, but we would instead go out after Allie's final.
Brandon was headed over to Stirling since he's program was over. I met Brandon at Stirling train station and we had a few errands to run once he got there. Little did I know Brandon was trying to keep me busy till my surprise party later that day.
I just thought that we were hanging out and having a chill day before going out the next night.
(Totally unrelated but funny) I still had Ranch packets so we got ingredients to make ranch at the grocery store to from scratch. The mayonnaise wasn’t working though and I tried to make it work by cintrifical force. My centrifical force only worked so well. Brandon gave it a try, but in the middle of swinging the mayonnaise around, the LID OPENED!!! Lol. There was a mayonnaise line around my kitchen resulting!! It was HILARIOUS!!!! We cleaned it up, but couldn’t quite get it all off the window. Lol.

I had no idea that anything was going on, because my friends were studying for their exams. Allie had a test the next day and so I assumed that she’d be studying to be able to go out. She text me and told me she had a present for me and wanted me to come pick it up.
Brandon and I went over to her flat, and all my friends were there to have a surprise party!!!

I was really surprised that they kept it such a good secret!! Allie had made burgers and fries and they even got me a cake!! It was so nice that Brandon and my friends were able to get together and do that for me! It was so sweet, they all went in on gifts for me! It was great!!

Amanda and George got me my FAVORITE perfume, and Allie and Michael got me a really cute bag, Brandon got me some bow sandals and a glass necklace from Murano.

It was so nice that I had people in my life that wanted to do that!!

We celebrated my birthday that night on my birthday, but also the next night we went out on a pub crawl for my birthday. We “suited up” as George puts it, and had a good time. Again I will spare my mom the details…. though, a good time.

Good times! Can't believe I'm 21!!!!

George's Birthday

It was my friend George's birthday, to celebrate his flat mates organized a pub-crawl. We also went out to dinner and a movie. For dinner we went out to “Filling Station”, the local favorite. The closest restaurant I could equate it to at home is like BJ’s. Filling Station is always good.

As per usual I got my favorite, Cajun chicken pasta bake!! I have nearly fallen in love with that dish. I am trying to find a way that they would ship it home to me weekly, but in negotiations so far, they are not up for it. Lol. Anyway, back to George’s Birthday. We ate at Filling Station because George had never been there before.
So we ate there and then walked over to the movie theatre.

We have the coolest movie theatre I’d ever been to.

You can pay for a VIP seat where the seat is bigger and better and you don’t have to share your armrest…lol. It was GREAT!!!! Plus they have silly snacks too. You can get a "mix it" bucket where you fill it up with whatever you want.

They had gummy treats shaped like crocodiles, fried eggs, shrimp, fangs, coke bottles, bananas and other silly shapes. So needless to say I filled up a bucket and giggled through the movie eating crocodile heads.

We saw the movie “Thor”, which was based on a comic book. It was a little silly and far-fetched, but for a movie based on a comic book I think it was well done. My favorite part is when Thor tries coffee for the first time and likes it, so he throws the mug on the floor and yells “ANOTHER”!

After the movie we all went to my flat for cake and presents. Amanda and I had figured out how to make an Ice Cream cake from scratch, and George had never even heard of Ice Cream Cakes, so we had to make him one.

We also went and got him a few things for his birthday as presents. He said that he wanted a new white shirt and a tie, so we got him those.

The tie we got him came with matching cuff links so that was sweet. Lol. We also got him these novelty boxers that he pointed out earlier in the week at the mall. They say, “I’m huge in Japan”. Lol. Those were hilarious. But I think the best thing we got for George was a pint glass that held 2 ½ pints of beer!!!!

The next day was George’s Pub Crawl. For his pub-crawl we decided to “suit up”. Which mean going out in dresses and heels/shirt and tie. I will spare my mom the details but lets just say it was a good time.
